The apartment from the deep PRL (Polish People's Republic) era, featuring a classic wall unit, steel door frames, and enclosed, small spaces, has undergone a significant rearrangement.
The wall dividing a small room from an equally compact kitchen was demolished. This alteration resulted in significantly more natural light entering the apartment. Two zones were created: a shared zone - a living room with a kitchenette, and an individual zone - a bedroom connected to an office.
Despite a substantial refresh and the addition of modern elements, the apartment retained its distinct PRL character and the ambiance of the 1970s. A large portion of the furnishings was either acquired second-hand or crafted independently. An original dresser found its place in the living room. The tiles in the kitchen and bathroom maintained the unique character reminiscent of the former terrazzo trend, and attention to old-school details only strengthened this effect.
Modern elements emerge as a backdrop and contrast to the once opulent interiors of the PRL era.
The entire apartment, kept in white, with doors featuring concealed frames, has become an ideal backdrop.
In the bathroom, the bathtub was removed, replaced by a partition with a spacious shower and the option to conceal a washing machine on the other side. While preserving the distinctive lighting of this space, only the window was replaced, and the functional layout was altered.
