The planned educational path aims to enhance the offerings of the Roztoczański National Park by adding additional value – a cohesive and transparent narrative telling the story of the forest. The starting point for the design task was the educational aspect directly related to the experience of the landscape.
The direction of movement for park visitors is not only horizontal but also vertical. For this reason, the common denominator for the educational narrative is a journey – ascending through the layers of the forest. The designed path allows a direct experience of such a transition, starting from a journey below the ground surface and ending high among the treetops.
This approach was intended to introduce a new quality to the infrastructure of the Roztoczański National Park, enhancing its significance on the tourist map of Poland.
// elements
The first object on the educational path is designed as a covered tunnel through a dune. Numerous viewing openings in its structure allow for framed views of the surroundings. Meanwhile, openings below ground level reveal the soil structure, exposing roots and other organic elements of the forest understory.
The passage thus provides an important experience of traversing the terrain, revealing the real environment, not limited to traditionally presented exhibits. The remaining openings in the walls are designed at a height suitable for perceiving the external environment from a "frog's-eye" perspective when looking low to the ground.
In addition to numerous integrated educational-informational boards along the educational path, a space for an educational platform is proposed, created on a transformed classroom module and covered to enhance usability in unfavorable weather conditions. It allows for gathering, conducting meetings, and workshops.
